Houston Property Tax Prop-1 vs. prop-2

does any one remembers, knows CA prop-13? It took Houston 25 years to deal with the problem. may be we're 25 years behind CA!

Our mayor Bill White is propoganding for Prop-1. why? Obviously he doesn't want citizen cutting the city fat budget. yet (and the mayor's own admition) the rate of local property taxes rose almost twice as fast as Houstonians' incomes. Where is it all leads? Obviously to Prop-2
why? Obviously it has been created by a group of caring citizens, and it will force more cost control at the city hall. subsequently, less need to increase taxes. Prop-2 is very similar to Colorado's Taxpair Bill of rights, or TABOR. A very successful implementaion of more financial control on the endless consumption of our local administration.

It has been a while since I've seen a more loathsome disply of demagoguery by proesidential wants to be.

The inability of the human spinal cord to regenerate is one of the great unknown of biology. the answer is as remote as planet Jupiter.
Wher cure will be discoved, it will comes from area we've no idea of which at this point.
To imply that Bush a prevented superman from ever to walk/fly again.....
"Ban" there is no ban. this is false. Bush is the first president to approve federal funding for stem cell research.

so, Dear Edwards, and Kerry, it looks like there is absolutly nothing you won't do/say just to get elected!

X-Prize awarded for the first privately financed manned (sub orbital) space flight

Hardly noticed, this is a historic day in humanity... Private enterprise on a second space (sub-orbital) flight - using low-tech flight technology (and high tech electronic and computing) at incredibly low cost and amazing looking design. One of the rules of the prize - there may not be ANY government financing of any kind. The prize was a nice incentive, but clearly the winning team was inspired much beyond that.

Visit from CA to Houston

So how to you entertain visitors from North CA?
To our surprise, there are plenty of beautiful places to visit. We decided to get to Anahuac McFaddin National Wildlife Refuges. It is only 1 hour drive from SW Houston, and we felt as we are 1000 miles a way.
Along the way back we stopped at San Jacinto River Cafe/Bar for a true Texas BBQ, and to listen to local Country Music band.
We continued the tour with a taste of Grilled Fish at Tampico, and concluded the evening with nice friends for coffee and lots of talk.

Michael Moritz of Sequoia Capital and Eric Schmidt of Google were asked about the relationship between 'The Venture Capitalist and the CEO' at the Silicon Valley 4.0 conference by moderator Guy Kawasaki, managing director of Garage Technology Ventures. In this segment, they discuss how Sequoia's investment in Yahoo led to Google, and the evolutionary method of technology investing.
Kawasaki: When we originally came up with the idea for having CEOs and venture capitalists, we wanted to do it in the newly-wed format, with three CEOs and then we'd ask them a question like 'Who's the most valuable board member?' And then we would bring back the VC and ask them the same question and compare the answers. But we couldn't get any CEOs or VCs to agree to this format. So we focused on Sequoia and Google as the most visible possible combination. First, could both of you just introduce your backgrounds?

Moritz: I'm a partner with Sequoia Capital, and we've just been investing up and down the Peninsula for the last 25 years, just trying to invest in people coming off of the Stanford campus. We decided that actually it's a fairly good business proposition, to be prepared to pay those excessive parking fines that you always get when you visit the Stanford campus, in exchange for purchasing Series A shares in a company of a kind that comes off the Stanford campus. So that's our business practice.

Schmidt: I'm a scientist who's classically trained in Unix but nobody uses Unix anymore, they use Linux. So I became a businessman.

Kawasaki: That's your background? Can't you talk about Sun or Novell?

Schmidt: Well, I'm a businessman now,"
